Function of series power capacitor

There are two ways of series and parallel connection in the process of using power capacitors. The connection mode of capacitors can be selected according to different situations and different requirements to achieve the best economic effect. Here we briefly analyze the function of series power capacitors:

1. Improve the terminal voltage of the line. Generally speaking, the terminal voltage of the line can be increased by 20%.

2. Improve the transmission capacity of the line. The capacitor itself has compensation reactance, so the voltage drop and power loss of the line will be reduced, and the transmission capacity of the line will be increased accordingly.

3. Improve the stability of the system. When the transmission capacity is improved, the static stability is improved. When the capacitive reactance is increased, the total equivalent reactance of the system is reduced, the ultimate power is increased, and the dynamic stability of the system is also improved.

4. Improve the power flow distribution of the system. In the closed network, if capacitors are connected in series and the line reactance is changed, the current will flow according to the specified line, which meets the requirements of power economic distribution.

5. Reduce the voltage fluctuation at the load side. The capacitor can eliminate the violent fluctuation of voltage when the line load is terminated with the impulse load with great change.
